When I first saw these awesome Doc Martins with a front and also a side zipper. I bought 1 pair for myself and another pair for my 18 year old grand daughter.
I was so happy when they arrived.
But bummer here it comes. The width and color was perfect, but not the shaft. I would have to leave both zippers open to be able to wear these. The shaft is horribly small ! If I left both zippers down I might be able to wear them. they are just way too tight and out of proportion to the rest of the boot. My grand daughter had the same problem, but hers was too long in length and the shaft way too narrow. Totally out of proportion.
So I unfortunately both pairs are going back to Zappos. My Grand daughter and I are really bummed out about this ! So sending them both back.

I bough these primarily because I wanted a pair of Dr. Martens that had a zipper entry. I LOVED the fit (some DM’s are too wide for me), but they squeak a LOT. I read about eliminating a DM squeak online, but non of the issues seemed like they would solve this particular problem. Wearing in may have solved it, but it was so loud that I wasn’t willing to endure the break-in time. That is the primary reason I returned these boots, but also the styling was a little odd, imho. There is a second zipper underneath the laces, but it is actually a separate piece of leather with a zipper on it, that you have to lace into the boots or it falls out. It seemed a little silly, although I liked the zipper look. (I wish DM made more zip pairs, as we don’t wear shoes in our house, which makes for a lot of lacing and unlacing.) The thing I really liked was that the zipper meant that the eyelets were spaced far enough apart that someone with a narrow foot could cinch the boots tight enough to fit well. Many DM’s don’t cinch tight enough for my foot. One more thing: When the boots are laced the way they are in the photo above, the eyelets stick up a lot. I laced them with the laces criss-crossing the tongue, which worked well. (They then partially cover the zipper, but the zipper isn’t functional, so it doesn’t matter.)

I wear a size 10.5. The research I’d done suggested going down a size, so I did and ordered a size 10. I know there’s a break-in period, but they cut off circulation in my feet. Thank u, next. I returned those and got a size 11. They were still very tight, but I walked around the house in them for a bit. I’ve only had them for two days, but they feel better every time I put them on. Still no ‘these are my most comfortable shoes’ feeling, but I’ll wait it out.
Word to the wise, wear thick socks and wear them all the way up, so they’re higher than the back of the boot. Until that part of the boot softens, it will literally cut into your skin. I recently bought some socks for construction workers from Target with extra padding and support, and only wear these boots with those socks, so I haven’t had any blisters.
Aesthetically, these boots are GORGEOUS. I got them in red, and it has just enough pop of color, but not so much that I can’t wear them to work or something. The leather is so shiny and elegant, and they’re not as clunky as some boots can be, even within the Dr Marten family. The real clincher for me with this model is the side zipper, so no fiddling with laces (unless you want to; I don’t).

Very stylish! Love the zipper up the center. As with any Dr Martin boot, they are stiff initially but the more you wear them the better they get. Super satisfied with this purchase.

Aesthetically these boots are a hit. They are adorable and I couldn’t wait to wear them. However, I decided to go on an hour long walk through the park with them on straight out of the box… terrible idea!! After about ten minutes the seam in the back of the boot started cutting into my heels which was extremely painful. The moment I stepped back into the car the boots came off and I am not looking forward to trying them again. If there is a way to fix the heel digging, then I’m down to keeping these boots. The rest of the boot seems durable and sturdy. My last pair of Doc Martens did not have this issue though so I’m unsure!

Usually Doc run big on me so I order a size down but these fit true to size

My daughter wears a 6.5 I bought a 7 perfect fit!!!! She loves them so much!

I was a bit worried with I first tried them on, the front zip didn’t seem to want to pull up when I had my foot in them, but after a couple of times pulling the zip up and down when off the foot, the zip went up easy enough on the next try, just stiff I guess.

They fit as expected, are super cute and stylish! exactly what I expected. Zappos did a great job of shipping them fast!

Ugg, I am big Doc Marten fan, but I could barely get my foot inside this shoe. I just wanted a boot with a zipper, to get in and out of easier than my regular docs. Well, this particular shoe has a side zipper, a top zipper, AND laces! It was all very confusing, not to mention STIFF as heck. Too much work. Sent back.

Love the style of these but ultimately had to return them…they were very heavy and felt like they would be painful at the top part since they are very tough and don’t have much movement to them.

These docs are tight in the instep and run small. I’ll try a size up from my usual… hope that works cuz I love this style.

Looks perfect 🙂 need some time to break up (about two weeks without extra methods)

So happy I ordered a half size up…I’m an 8.5, and figured I’d order a 9. Over the weekend I tried Docs on at the store, and the 9 seemed rather large. Today my beautiful new Docs came, I thought for sure I’d need to send them back for an 8. But, low, and behold, they fit like a dream!! So happy I went with a 9, they are definitely more narrow then other Docs I’ve owned, and the ones that I tried on in the store over the weekend…They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

These boots are perfect!!! The fit is on point. The boots have two zipper options(adjust as they’re fitted boots) and shoe laces. The zippers for front part allows for the feet to give room if you needed it. They also allow for the foot to be snugged in if you don’t want room. The zipper helps for those with wide feet or ankles as well as for those who have extremely narrow and dainty feet, ankles like me in which sometimes Docs can be tricky to wear. Love these boots I got killer raves from co-workers, that was awesome! Highly recommend these boots

These are great boots. I cant believe these are my first pair of Doc’s. I always wanted a pair but i never like looking like everyone else so I surrendered years ago. I recently realized there are a few variations on the classic Doc and this pair are really edgy and different. They are also a bit streamlined for Doc’s. Still chunky. Still heavy and bigger looking on anyones foot but thats what I love about them. The slightly streamlined top and toe gives it a modern edge and the zipper design is really unique-thats what sold me. I wear a 6.5-7 depending on the shoe and the use. I purchased the 7 and they are a bit bigger but not big by any means. About how I’d expect expect a 7 to fit me. With regular thickness socks they will fit perfect. I have flat feet and a narrow heal so almost every shoe I own has some kind added support. These have a remarkable arch-I was shocked-but the do slip on my narrow heel. I put in a heel cushion (a trick I use for most boots) and they are perfect. I read a review that the width at the top of the boot is so narrow people cant zip them closed. I cant understand this. I have short legs and very athletic calves. If I can get them on anyone can. There are two zippers and laces that can be adjusted to give room at the top of the boot. I only slightly opened the laces and they easily zipped. Take it for wide calf girl-they will zip-you just have to be patient and work the laces.

Tight for the first 3 days and my heels would slip while walking. Perfect on day 4!
Awesome boot that feels super sturdy!

The fit and size were great. In typical Doc fashion, they are extremely uncomfortable when you first try them on. On these, the tongue is especially stiff. You have to break in your Docs or you will be very unhappy. I put on heavy socks and cooked dinner in them for a few nights. Also walked up and down the stairs. Now they’re feeling fabulous. But don’t expect to wear them right out of the box – ouch!

I’ve been looking for a pair of Dr. Martens for a few decades now. I finally found them! The added zipper in the middle adds just a bit of extra “dressiness” instead of all of the heavy-looking laces. This cherry/black color is perfect…again, not too harsh or brash but just right to match any colors I want to wear. There IS a break-in period! Don’t expect perfect comfort at the top of boot (just above the ankles) until you wear them to soften the leather. You can adjust the tightness of the top zipper by loosening the laces. It does feel tight when you pull that front zipper up, just adjust the laces and also be patient with the softening of the leather. Can’t wait to pair mine with sun dresses this summer and leggings with tunics this fall!

OK. So. I had to wear these around my bedroom for 40 minutes before I could decide if I was going to keep them or not. I also had to fiddle with them for about an hour to adjust them and get them to a point where they work. I wear a size 6 and got the 6’s and at first could not even get them on my feet. If you’re expecting these to be easy on/easy off because of the zipper design, guess again. The instep was extremely tight to begin with but I discovered you have to loosen the laces at the bottom significantly— Which was not easy… that was a battle with the way they’re laced up. Also, if I unzipped the front zipper (which makes them easier to get on if you unzip both zippers, I was not able to get that zipper zipped back up once I had them on, so I have to exclusively use the side zipper to get them on and off.) I think maybe if I could have sized up they’d be better but there are no other sizes left in the red…I think I’ve managed to nab the last pair. They are stiff, and they hurt, but I know Docs can sometimes take months to break in. You’re also going to absolutely need a tall boot sock so the tops don’t cut into your legs at first. All in all, if comfort and ease is what you’re after, these are not for you. As far as style goes, A+. These boots are savage. I love the cherry red color and the slimmer look of this style. If you’re willing to put in a lot of time and effort into “setting them up” and breaking them in, go for it.

Such a cute look but the fact that the shaft doesn’t fit makes them unwearable. Such a bummer

These are super stylish but too tight.
