First pair purchased had to be swapped because only after a few wears the points where the shoe creased begin to crack and the smooth and shiny finish began to peel off. Have not had this problem with the replacement pair. These shoes run large. I had to add inserts to adjust the fit. The shoes wear well but I have the feeling they aren’t made to be worn for function as I intended them to be, but for fashion. While that is well and good I needed a work shoe that would last. While these are holding up fine at this point I’m not sure if I made them my regular shoe that they would.

I like this shoe! I did not have to break them in like I expected, they are so easy to wear: no rubbing against my heel or anything. I think I just found my casual work shoe! I have an odd sized foot, 11.5, and the size 11 fits perfectly with room to spare in the toe box. So glad I chose this one!
Dennis –
Very disappointed in this shoe. I don’t wear them often, but just noticed a huge split in the sole of the left shoe, on the instep near my big toe. I haven’t used them hard and wear them mostly for work out of my home office. Kinda bummed this happened.

After less than 2 years of moderate wear, the sole has split catastrophically. Very disappointed in the durability of these shoes- nothing like the Dr Martens of old.

The 1461 is a lovely shoe conceptually; however, the quality of manufacturing leaves something to be desired. I wore my shoes around my house for a few days, following advice about breaking them in. Unfortunately, I noticed after a few days that the materials where the toe crease began to form started bubbling. This leads me to believe that the material is of poor quality, and the manufacturing is of poor quality, and I would not be a happy consumer if I spent ~120 on shoes that did not last according to Doc Marten’s historical reputation. I’ve considered buying Made in England shoes directly from the Docs website, but I may just go ahead and go for Solovair because of general mixed reviews about Docs quality in recent years.

“The Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes” – wore these stomping around NYC on a trip back east for the first time, great style, good quality construction (I at first avoided this purchase because of the bad reviews regarding the leather folding or crinkling too soon and in an unattractive way and didn’t find that at all), I am a huge Docs fan but usually wear the five eyes and liked these three eyes just fine!

Fits like a glove!

These shoes are cute & classic. They run big though. I’d recommend sizing down.

Unfortunately, Doc Martens has decided to glue insoles into all of their oxfords now (I asked on their website). After getting these shoes, I spent 15 minutes or so peeling the insoles out of them so I can wear them with my orthotics. They’re a little clunky for my taste – the 1461Ws used to be able to fit my orthotics in them and were slightly smaller, but they have changed the instep of the shoe (or my foot has changed and I can no longer wear them comfortably.
So Yay for Doc Martens – comfortable, durable, and exceeding waterproof, and Boo for glued in insoles.

The shoe is very comfortable in the footbed. The heel was still but that was to be expected and it wore in well. The size was a whole size too big, I had to return it and get a smaller size. It is wearing well and still very comfortable for my everyday shoes. It also looks great!

I stand all day and these are perfect for me. I’m a female but most all my clothes and shoes are men’s. I wear a 6.5 men’s in Vans and a 5.5 men’s in Converse and in these a US 6/UK 5 fits me perfect. In the past I’ve bought the women’s version of this same shoe and the UK 5 doesn’t fit at all and the UK 6 is way too big. So I always get the men’s version and they fit me great. Highly recommend!

This is a great oxford. It works for both professional and casual outings and they feel comfortable to boot. I recommend this Dr. Martens shoe!

Consistent fan since 1992. The construction has changed, but I keep buying them because they feel and look great, and I can keep them for years.
Ari –
awesome. love these shoes. I’m typically a 6.5 in men’s shoes and an 8 in women’s shoes (I’m a woman) and the UK5 is perfect for me.

I have orthotics and am on my feet all day. These shoes provide comfort and support and last a very long time. This is my third or fourth pair of these and I absolutely love them.

I wear a 7.5, so I sized up to an 8. They were a full size too big. They also felt wider than I expected.

Most Dr Martens should feel a little snug when you try them on for the first time. The leather is usually very stiff and takes time to soften. But after a while, they will start to feel like the most comfortable shoes or boots you’ve ever worn. This is my third pair and I’m looking forward to getting years of enjoyment out of them.

Love them, so comfortable.
DAVE –
the size and fit were great. I’m thinking about buying a 2nd pair in black.
DAVE –
They fit great. Once they are broken in they will be perfect.

I’m in between sizes, so ordered larger size and put in insoles…PERFECT!!!
Jenia –
Great shoes! Need some breaking in, but that’s normal. Surprisingly, women size 8 is bigger in these shoes than in another Dr. Martens I got half-year ago. And this is so good!

Great fit, comfortable even before breaking them in
Nick –
These shoes run big, for example I normally wear an 11-11.5. In these I fit perfectly in a size 10. The quality is there, we’ll made and they look really stylish.

Ordered my typical size (womens 7.5 – 8) with the women’s 8, men’s 7 and they were too big.
Exchanged for the women’s 7, mens 6 and they fit perfectly. Have wide feet (womens WW) and these were an appropriate width.
